Defence Day of Pakistan carries a glorious chapter in our history. The day reminds us of the determination, selflessness and sacrifices of our armed forces which they have rendered for the defence of the country. To defeat nefarious design of the enemy our valiant armed forces exhibited unwavering examples of faith, unity and discipline against heavy odds.Army officers like Captain Sarwar Shaheed, Major Tufail Shaheed, Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed, Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed, Sawar Muhammad Hussain, Lance Naik Mehfooz Shaheed, Shaheed Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed, Captain Karnal Sher Shaheed and Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed gave sacrifices of their life and were awarded with “Nishan-e-Hairder” on 6th September, 1965. Nishan-e-Haider is a special batch which is given to brave martyred people in Pakistan who leave remarkable examples of bravery and sacrifices for nation.
It is a national day that is commemorated countrywide, starting with special prayers for the eternal peace of those who lost their lives during the war and also for the sovereignty and prosperity of the nation. I pay homage to our brave soldiers who fought relentlessly to defend the security and sovereignty of our country in the Indo-Pak war of 1965 and those who are still fighting and defending Pakistan. We salute those martyrs for their selfless services and sacrifices and the high level of dedication they have displayed for their homeland.
