“A Government which give relief to victims, but don’t give relief to people who later become victims.”

These words come in my mind to define Government of Pakistan after every catastrophe, whether its suicide attack, bomb blast or natural disaster. Government is never ready to act before, nor take measures against. They’re seen rushing after something serious has occurred, and announcing millions to victims. I don’t believe that people have received financial support and rescue teams. Money can help them financially but cannot connect them to their lost ones. I wonder if that same millions were used on time, before something serious to happen. It can save lives and area. Money is not a replace to lives, a much known phenomena, but our Government doesn’t feel it.

We should not forget our past and other issues, but let’s forget other issues for instant and throw light on drought-hit district of Tharparkar. Is Thar is not a part of Government of Pakistan??? Government of Sindh is busy in celebrating sports festival and wasting millions on it, copying Government of Punjab’s Youth festival. If some part of money from Sindh’s sport festival was spent in Thar, we haven’t loss the lives of poor people. To me it’s deadliest and most painful way to die in drought. Up to 132 children have died – with three more deaths of infants (according to news sources). Now leaders like, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other federal and provisional ministers visiting affected areas. Otherwise they don’t like to visit these kinds of areas, they prefer going out of country.

Now except praying and rescuing them there’s no solution. Prayers for those flower like children who died, prayers for their parents. May Allah give them strength to face this tragedy. Finally an appeal to government that it’s not time make statements and show off your activities, it’s time to act in reality with unity and loyalty, loyalty to people, loyalty to your Pakistan. If this is not done on war footing, elimination of poverty in the country will always remain a far cry. Catastrophe such as the one that has recently struck Thar, or catastrophes of even greater magnitude, may continue to occur and cause greater devastation in the future.
